Where Memories Live

Some stories are never truly over. They don’t remain confined to the pages of a book—they live quietly within us, resurfacing through a familiar scent, a treasured object, or the warmth of a remembered moment. They become a part of who we are.

This piece is a heartfelt tribute to my grandparents and the home they created with love, simplicity, and care. It is about the laughter that echoed through ordinary days, the conversations that unfolded over shared meals, and the quiet comfort of simply being together.

The objects they left behind—a worn utensil, a carefully folded fabric, a well-used piece of furniture—are far more than possessions. They are silent witnesses to a lifetime of love, resilience, rituals, and belonging. They hold stories that words alone cannot fully express, carrying the echoes of a home that continues to live in memory.

Though time moves forward, the moments we shared remain deeply cherished. They linger in our hearts, reminding us that home is not only a place we once lived—it is also the people who shaped us and the memories that continue to accompany us through life.

I am deeply grateful to Museum of Material Memory for publishing this deeply personal story and giving these memories a place to be shared.
